Building a Website Without Thinking SEO
Thought that I would share this with you all. I had a client this last week that called us about an online store build. We were delighted to help…so off we went to the meeting.
It came up during the meeting that he already had a site. I had a look at the website and visually it was great. No problems what-so-ever…right?
WRONG
The poor guy was non-existent when it came to Google. He literally could not even Google his own name ! To be honest I don’t know how his original website designers could have made this mistake but there you have it.
The problems with the website are too numerous to mention here…so I won’t. But here is a quick highlight – 1. No title tags 2. Way too much flash 3. No Text highlighting Importance. 4. The website was hosted in another country. And last but not least 5. His website domain forwarded to a sub-directory of someone else’s website!
It might be hard to imagine but this was a seemingly professional build. The guys had great graphic design abilities and no website knowledge.
The lesson here is MAKE IT WORK ! Then worry about the looks. Style over Substance. Remember this post the next time you want to get fancy with your website.
